Challenge
The journaling app market is saturated with products that either feel like productivity tools or compromise user privacy through cloud sync and feature creep. There was an opportunity for a product that took a principled stance on privacy while presenting itself with the warmth and craft of an editorial brand.
Approach
We built the entire product end to end — identity, product design, marketing site, and code. The editorial cream aesthetic positions Vellum closer to a premium notebook than a tech product. The brand voice is calm and assured. The landing page leads with the core promise and uses a physical book motif to anchor the tactile feeling the product is meant to evoke.
Outcome
Vellum is a complete, cohesive product — brand through code. Every touchpoint communicates the same positioning: a private, beautiful place to write. The site converts by making the product feel like an object worth having.
